NEU Vis Tech

NEU Vis Tech Student project by Ryan Morrill
NEU Vis Tech 2016 student project by Irene de la Torre, studying differences in 311 response times across Boston
NEU Vis Tech Students are exposed to increasingly complex technical exercises, culminating in a complete “training project” that embodies information design and frontend development best practices.

I have been teaching a series of graduate-level classes in information design and visualization technologies at Northeastern University. The classes teaches students with diverse backgrounds how to operationalize information design best practices with the latest frontend technologies (d3, ES6 etc.). In the advanced classes, I have worked with students to study urban complexity and issues of equity through the lens of information design. Student projects have examined a broad range of issues including municipal service provision (311), Airbnb, usage patterns of bike share programs, and housing affordability.
